DESCRIPTION:Town and Parish Councils, as corporate decision-making bodies, need to build considerations of risk management and compliance into their day-to-day decision making, their structures and their operations.  Taking these issues seriously ensures that the Council is a robust, reliable and accountable body which members of the public can trust and rely upon. Councils with large property portfolios and a broad range of functions must be particularly aware of their obligations to staff, public, volunteers, contractors and each other.\nThis 90 minute online session covers key areas of health and safety and compliance that are particularly relevant to the sector such as tree management; play area inspections; building inspections; managing volunteers; managing fire and security risks; insurance; data protection and freedom of information. It offers a  structured approach to the risk assessment process for Town and Parish Councils covering the importance of insurance and mitigation measures and how to evidence that process with case studies to illustrate good practice and bad practice.\nRunning time: 2  hours approximately depending on Q&A\nRemote Access: Joining instructions will be issued closer to the time\nTraining provider: Frances Webster, Solicitor \nFrances is a solicitor in the Town and Parish Council department of Wellers Hedley. \nHaving worked professionally within the local council sector for over eight years, Frances has a practical understanding of the legal issues encountered by Town and Parish Councils and the unique regulatory environment in which they operate.  In her previous role Frances managed the Advice and Training service for a County Association and she now continues to work closely with several County Associations and Town and Parish Councils across the country to provide specialist legal advice and training.\nCancellation: A full refund will be given if 14 days or more notice prior to the date of the training course is given.
